Kurt Weill letter to Louis Simon, 1939 July 26.

In a signed, typewritten letter to Louis Simon, 26 July 1939, Weill writes concerning a proposed adaptation of his Dreigroschenoper (Three Penny Opera) into English with an African American cast. He suggests that before they can plan the show, they must wait to see Harold Smith's script. If Weill chooses not to work on the adaptation, he would want all his ideas removed. He also mentions Bertolt Brecht, the original co-author, who would have a stake in the show.
